As a convert to Islam I constantly have to deal with people telling me that I don't belong here. That I don't respect my culture and I try to fit in. I don't see it that way. I believe in a religion which is the truth for me. It does not change my nationality. I don't feel at home anywhere. I believe that you can see the whole world as your home. I am from earth.

How do you feel when you start seeing the world as your home?

You don't have to fit into the norms of a specific country. There are no boarders who try to stop you. You are at home anywhere you want.

Dit ontwerp is een voorbeeld van mijn collectie. De groene lijn staat voor het vinden van je eigen weg en de NASA print op de jurk staat voor een wereld zonder grenzen. Deze zijn namelijk niet zichtbaar vanuit de ruimte en human made.

Artist statement

AnneSara is a Dutch fashion designer who expresses her visual thoughts through her designs. Her focus points are based on personal feelings which she combines with her fascination. She grew up in a surrounding of nature and this gives her the feeling of home. The scent, the touch, the visual pleasing textures and colors the world has to offer. Through her believe she started to appreciate everything which is created by earth even more. She started to find her intrest in looking at the world in a different way by zooming in and out. To start seeing things from different perspectives. The beauty she finds in those new textures from zoomed in wings off butterflies to zoomed out pictures of the earth by NASA is what gives her new inspiration. These finds are then worked out her in her designs. The colors, textures, shapes are all mashed together into digital collages on Photoshop. Here is where she finds new shapes and designs start to develop. She has a very specific drive in learning new technics which helps her to find new fabric manipulations all the time. She is somebody who never gives up in experimenting, who is open for mistakes and also finds the beauty in going with the flow. She believes that this is also a way of nature doing it’s thing which blesses her work. By combining her fascination and her personal subjects she is able to express her feelings without the of need off it to be filled in words. Social statements are being made for the audience to think about and take in consideration by designs created with a story.

Ambities

Mijn ambitie is om altijd mijn creatieve spirit te behouden. Ik wil me voornamelijk focussen om mijn eigen kledinglijn door te zetten. Maar ook wil ik graag mijzelf ontwikkelen in het werkveld en blijven groeien.

Geleerd tijdens de studie

Tijdens deze studie heb ik voornamelijk veel geleerd op gebied van mijn persoonlijke groei. Toen ik deze school binnen kwam was ik nog heel erg op zoek naar waar ik mezelf plaats in deze wereld, wat voeg ik toe en wat zijn mijn interesses? Door de jaren heen ben ik hier enorm in gegroeid. Ik merk dat ik veel beter kritiek op kan nemen en het niet meer zie als een persoonlijke aanval. Integendeel daarvan weet ik het nu heel goed om te zetten en het te verwerken in mijn projecten. Ook ben ik gegroeid in het kiezen van de juiste woorden voor mijn projecten en de zelfverzekerdheid om deze te presenteren. Het was voor mij dus voornamelijk een mentale groei.

SOCIAL BUTTERFLY

Social butterlfy is based on my social anxiety. Through my design I wanted to express how it feels to not be able to open up to people. In a group of people I get quiet and I am not able to express myself. After I get to know people they get to see my real personally and I am able to open up. This is what I wanted to capture through my design.

LIGHT

Light is based on the beauty of an unseen world. I got fascinated by the cells of a hamster modified by a protein form an Aequorea jellyfish. This protein is used in the medical world. The two worlds of the cells with lights off and on is what I wanted to capture into a design.
